Trevor Bruess entered his second Development Camp stronger, faster and determined to make an impression headed into his second professional season. And after splitting his first professional season between South Carolina (ECHL) and Hershey (AHL), he’s not simply hoping to make a slow and steady progression up the organizational depth chart.
“I want to make Washington,” he said, when asked if he was eyeing one of the available spots at center in Hershey for 2010-11. “That the main goal – that’s what I’m here for.”
That no-nonsense approach shows on the ice, where Bruess (pronounced “BRISS”) doesn’t do anything at half speed. His quickness is his most notable asset, and it helped him produce 26 points and a +11 rating in 46 games with South Carolina as a rookie. He also spent 14 games with Hershey, recording a goal and an assist.
