Reading, PA –The South Carolina Stingrays (3-7-1-0) saw their winless streak pushed to five games as they dropped a 3-2 contest to theReading Royals (7-5-0-0) in front of 3,059 at Sovereign Center Sunday night.

Royals forward Matt Caruana kick-started the scoring 2:27 into the first period beating Stingrays goaltender Shane Connelly with a wrist shot over the left shoulder. Forward Chris Blight and defenseman Jared Ross earned assists. The Stingrays tied the contest on the power play at 4:10 with a tally from Pierre-Luc O’Brien from forward Nikita Kashirsky and defenseman Josh Godfrey. Reading made it 2-1 on a delayed penalty when forward Ben Gordon lit the lamp at 17:07 from defenseman Todd Perry and forward Ryan Cruthers.

Stingrays forward Rob Ricci tied the contest midway through the third period lifting a shot over Royals netminder Ben Scrivens from O’Brien and forward David deKastrozza. Cruthers provided the game-winning goal for the Royals at 14:12 from Ross and forward Olivier Labelle.

Connelly suffered the loss stopping 23 of 26 Royals shots. Scrivens earned his fourth win of the season pushing away 31 of 33 Stingrays opportunities. The Stingrays finished the contest 1-for-3 on the power play while the Royals went 0-for-2.
