Cincinnati, OH –Defenseman Zach Jones scored his first professional goal 2:52 into overtime to give the South Carolina Stingrays (25-18-1-1) a 3-2 victory over the Cincinnati Cyclones (19-17-6-2) at U.S. Bank Arena Wednesday night.

Forward Jake Hauswirth gave the Stingrays an early 1-0 lead 3:02 into the first period snapping a wrist shot under the blocker of Cyclones goaltender Marc Cheverie from the bottom of the left-wing circle. Forwards Matt Scherer and Grant McNeill assisted on Hauswirth’s seventh goal of the season.
The Cyclones tied the contest on the power play at 15:40 of the middle frame when forward Dustin Sproat deflected a shot from defenseman Brian O’Hanley under the glove of Stingrays netminder Jared DeMichiel. Defenseman Adam Comrie received the second assist. The Cyclones claimed the lead moments later when Comrie lifted a shot over the right pad of DeMichiel at 18:21 from forward Christiaan Minella.
Stingrays forward Dan Eves knotted the contest back up at 13:54 of the third period from McNeill. Jones completed the comeback in overtime from forwards Nikita Kashirsky and Tommy Goebel.
DeMichiel improved to 14-8-0-0 stopping 32 of 34 Cyclones shots. Cheverie suffered the loss kicking away 20 of 23 Stingrays chances. The Stingrays ended the night 0-for-2 on the power play while the Cyclones went 1-for-2.
