DeMichiel Heads to Hershey

02/03/2011 2:15 PM - North Charleston, SC – The South Carolina Stingrays and Head Coach Cail MacLean announced today that goaltender Jared DeMichiel has been called up to the Hershey Bears of the American Hockey League.

DeMichiel, 25, appeared in 24 games with the Stingrays going 14-8-0 with a .915 save percentage and ranks ninth in the ECHL with a 2.63 goals-against average. The Avon, CT native is currently in his first professional season after playing for four years at the Rochester Institute of Technology where he went 41-19-2 with a 2.36 GAA and a .908 save percentage in 66 games. During his senior season, DeMichiel had a career-best 27-10-1 record with a 2.09 goals-against average and a .921 save percentage while leading the Tigers to the 2010 NCAA Frozen Four for the first time in school history. During the tournament, the 6-foot-1, 180-pound netminder earned the NCAA East Region Most Outstanding Player award.

The Stingrays travel to Wings Stadium for the first time in team history for a two-game series against the Kalamazoo Wings on Friday, February 4 and Saturday, February 5. Both contests start at 7:30 p.m. Listen to the action LIVE on ESPN Radio 910 and
