North Charleston, SC – The South Carolina Stingrays and Head Coach/Director of Hockey Operations Cail MacLean announced today that the team has acquired forward Ryan Del Monte from the Cincinnati Cyclones in exchange for forwards Samson Mahbod and Dan Eves.
Del Monte, 27, spent most of this season in the American Hockey League with the Rochester Americans and Worcester Sharks grabbing four goals and six assists for 10 points in 36 games. The Mississauga, ON native dressed in 11 games with the Cyclones netting eight points (2g, 6a). During the 2009-10 campaign, Del Monte lit the lamp nine times for Cincinnati and added 17 assists for 26 points in 46 games and skated in 21 postseason contests earning four points (3g, 1a) as the Cyclones captured their second Kelly Cup title.
Prior to turning pro, the 6-foot, 190-pound winger skated for four seasons at Brock University registering 45 goals and 58 assists for 103 points in 91 games. During his senior season, Del Monte served as team captain, finished 16 in CIS scoring with 35 points (19g, 16a) and led the Badgers to an OUA West Division championship and the school’s first ever appearance in the Cavendish University Cup national championship tournament.
Mahbod, 22, competed in 16 games with the Stingrays scoring 10 points (3g, 7a) while Eves, 24, tallied seven points (2g, 5a) in 26 contests.
