N. CHARLESTON, S.C. – The South Carolina Stingrays and head coach Jason Fitzsimmons announced today changes to the roster.
Defenseman Viktor Dovgan has been activated off the 7-day Injured Reserve. Dovgan, 19, has played 22 games with the Stingrays this season and has a goal, an assist, and 39 penalty minutes. The Moscow, Russia native was recently signed to a three-year deal with the Washington Capitals, the Stingrays National Hockey League affiliate.
Stephen Werner, a native of Chevy Chase, MD, has been placed on the 7-day Injured Reserve. Werner, 22, was sent down from the Hershey Bears on Dec. 6th. The 6’1”, 210-pound right winger has played five games with the Rays recording six points on two goals and four assists.
With goalie Daren Machesney up in Hershey, the Rays have signed Jorge Alves as an emergency backup goaltender. The 5’9”, 185-pound Alves is a native of Boston, MA, and played one game with the Stingrays last year. He has yet to play a game this season.
