Gladiators Down Stingrays 3-1

North Charleston, SC –The Gwinnett Gladiators (26-25-2-5) snapped the South Carolina Stingrays’ (32-22-2-2) four-game unbeaten streak with a 3-1 victory Tuesday night at the North Charleston Coliseum.

After a scoreless first period, Gladiators forward Danick Paquette broke free at 4:27 of the second frame and slipped a shot under the glove of Stingrays goaltender Shane Owen for his 13 tally of the season. Forward John-Scott Dickson and defenseman Paul Flache recorded assists. The Gladiators grabbed a two-goal lead with a shorthanded marker from forward Michael Forney at 11:48 from forward Andy Brandt and defenseman Sam Roberts.

Forward Justin Milo made it 3-0 Gladiators on the power play at 11:15 of the third period from Flache and Brandt. Stingrays forward Nikita Kashirsky denied the shutout with 1:26 to play firing a shot under the blocker of Gladiators netminder Edward Pasquale from the top of the right-wing circle. Forward Trent Campbell and defenseman Dustin Stevenson earned assists.

Pasquale picked up the win stopping 36 of 37 Stingrays shots. Owen suffered the loss kicking away 22 of 24 Gladiators chances. The Stingrays ended the night 0-for-3 on the power play while the Gladiators went 1-for-3.

The Rays travel to Germain Arena for the first time this season for two games against the Florida Everblades on Friday, March 4 at 7:30 p.m. and Saturday, March 5 at 7:00 p.m. Check out
