North Charleston, SC – The South Carolina Stingrays and Head Coach/Director of Hockey Operations Cail MacLean announced today that forward Ryan Del Monte has returned to the team from the Rochester Americans of the American Hockey League and defenseman Josh Godfrey has been loaned to the Chicago Wolves of the AHL.
Del Monte, 27, dressed in five games with the Stingrays earning one assist. The Mississauga, ON native spent most of this season in the AHL with Rochester and the Worcester Sharks grabbing four goals and six assists for 10 points in 39 games and was acquired by the Stingrays via trade with the Cincinnati Cyclones on February 11. While with the Cyclones, Del Monte netted eight points (2g, 6a) in 11 games.
Godfrey, 23, skated in 49 games with the Stingrays this season earning 27 points (15g, 12a) and ranksfirst among ECHL defensemen in goals, power play tallies (9) and shots (167). Since joining the Stingrays as a rookie for the 2008-09 campaign, the Collingwood, ON nativeregistered 25 goals and 43 assists for 68 points in 115 regular-season contests. Selected to the 2011 ECHL All-Star Classic in Bakersfield, CA, Godfrey set a new ECHL Skills Competition record with a shot of 102.7 miles per hour in the Reebok Hardest Shot contest. Prior to turning pro, Godfrey spent four seasons in the OHL starring for Guelph and Sault St. Marie. While with the Greyhounds, the 34th overall draft pick by the Washington Capitals in the 2007 NHL Entry Draft recorded 119 points (47g, 72a) in 158 games.
