Langeraap Scores First Pro Goal in Victory over Walleye

Forward Pierre-Luc O'Brien recorded a goal and an assist.

Toledo, OH –Forward Chase Langeraap recorded his first professional goal as the South Carolina Stingrays (35-26-2-3) defeated to the Toledo Walleye (29-30-3-2) 3-1 Friday night at Huntington Center.

After a scoreless first period, Langeraap lit the lamp at 14:32 of the second frame slapping a loose puck past the left pad of Walleye goaltender Thomas McCollum from the bottom of the left-wing circle. Forward Pierre-Luc O’Brien picked up the lone assist.    

OBrien made it 2-0 Stingrays 1:00 into the third period sneaking a shot inside the right post of McCollum from defenseman Derek Keller and forward Tommy Goebel.

The Walleye cut the lead in half at 17:34 with an unassisted tally from forward Evan Rankin. Forward Matt Scherer sealed the victory for the Stingrays with an empty-net goal at 18:28 from forward Ryan Del Monte.

Stingrays netminder Shane Owen grabbed first-star honors stopping 35 of 36 Walleye shots. McCollum suffered the loss blocking 14 of 16 Stingrays chances. Both sides ended the night 0-for-1 on the power play.  

The Stingrays wrap up their three-game road trip tomorrow, Saturday, March 19 at 7:35 p.m. against the Wheeling Nailers at WesBanco Arena. Visit
