and Evan Schwabe
netted two goals apiece to propel the South Carolina Stingrays past the Johnstown Chiefs 7-2 before 3,965 fans at the North Charleston Coliseum.
“We got off to another great start and that was key,” South Carolina coach Jason Fitzsimmons said. “We’re spreading around the scoring nicely and when everyone pulls together in the same direction good things happen.”
South Carolina (19-14-2, 40 points) hit stride at 4:48 of the first period. Schwabe beat goaltender Morgan Cey
for his 10th of the season. Assists went to Cail MacLean
and Matt Reid.
Szabo gave the Stingrays a 2-0 lead by converting a centering pass from Viktor Dovgan
at the 7:45 mark. The secondary helper went to Chris Chaput
South Carolina went ahead 3-0 in the first period for the third straight home game, as Szabo re-directed a MacLean feed in front to count his second of the game and eighth of the season at 17:46.
Johnstown (14-15-4, 32 points) solved goaltender Davis Parley

Schwabe tallied his second of the contest at 6:57 of the middle stanza from Reid and Scott Romfo

desposited his seventh of the campaign in close on the power play to give South Carolina a 6-1 lead. Chaput and Szabo garnered helpers.
