North Charleston, SC – Forward Greg Stewart netted two goals and an assist as the South Carolina Stingrays (10-6-0-1) defeated the Gwinnett Gladiators (8-5-2-2) 6-1 at the North Charleston Coliseum Sunday afternoon.

Stingrays forward Sean Dolan grabbed the first goal of the game lifting a backhanded shot over the glove of Gladiators goaltender Billy Sauer (L, 23 saves on 27 shots) from the bottom of the right-wing circle. Stewart earned the lone assist.
The Stingrays erupted for four goals in the middle period to take a commanding 5-0 lead into the second intermission. Stewart lit the lamp at 4:25 for his third goal of the season from forwards Danick Paquette and Dolan. He added a second tally moments later at 8:59 from forward Pierre-Luc O’Brien and defenseman Derek Keller. Forward Anthony Maiani tapped in a rebound under the blocker of Sauer at 14:04 from forward Joe Pereira and defenseman Nick Tabisz and defenseman Johann Kroll buried an unassisted empty-net goal at 19:57.
Stingrays defenseman Paul Biaer scored his first goal of the season with a shorthanded empty-net goal at 15:30 of the third period from Dolan. The Gladiators ended Stingrays netminder Philipp Grubauer’s (W, 35 saves on 36 shots) shutout bid at 15:53 with a power-play marker from forward Riley Boychuck. Defenseman Shane Sims received an assist. The Stingrays went 0-for-3 on the power play while the Gladiators finished 1-for-4.
