N. CHARLESTON, S.C. – The South Carolina Stingrays and head coach Jason Fitzsimmons announced today that the Washington Capitals of the NHL have reassigned defenseman Sasha Pokulok from the Hershey Bears to
South Carolina
.
Pokulok, 20, was a first round draft pick of the Washington Capitals in the 2005 NHL Entry Draft and was selected 14th overall. A native of
Vaud-Dorion, Quebec
, Pokulok is his first year of professional hockey. He played two years of college hockey at
CornellUniversity
where he had a total of 23 points (7g-16a) and 82 penalty minutes in 53 games. Pokulok, at 6’5” and 230-lbs, has played in only one game with the Hershey Bears this season due to injury. He is expected to be in the line-up tonight when the Stingrays play the Charlotte Checkers in
Charlotte
.
