What is your fondest Stingrays memory?
I had 2 really good years. Can't really point to one big memory. I could say the basketball game with Darren Abbott, Jason Fitzsimmons, Chris Wheaton and myself were hilarious. We got a chucker...
How special was it being a part of the Stingrays’ Kelly Cup Championship team in 2001?
It was such a great year, we had good times all season. Just a solid bunch of guys on the ice and outside. It will always keep a huge part in my memory book.
After finishing your career in the QSPHL in 2002-03, you returned to play 3 games with the Stingrays in 2004-05. How did that come about?
Jason (“Fitzy”) needed some players. He came over to recruit me over a beer while I was at work (City Bar). "I haven't skated in 2 years," I said. Jason replied “you will be just fine,” as he finished up on his beer. And the following night, I played my first game in two years. I can say I did pretty good, for the circumstances. That's why he offered me to play one more after.
Do you still keep in contact with any of your former Stingrays teammates?
I still see the guys who stayed in the Lowcountry. Spags (Brett Marietti), Coucs (Rob Concannon), Reider (Matt Reid) and those guys.
Anything you’d like to say to Stingrays fans who might read this?
Thank you so much for your support. We were good on the ice but you guys made us great. You guys have been always really good with me, I love ya'll. I will be playing March 2, 2008 on Sunday (4pm) at the coliseum. Cops Vs Firemen for charity. Maybe I'll see you guys after the game.
