5 Questions With Sean Collins

12/01/2008 10:25 AM -

You were scratched for the first several games this season before cracking the lineup.  Now, you’re one of the most consistent defensemen on the Bears’ roster.
Yeah, they just kept telling me that they really liked what they saw in camp, and to keep doing what I was doing and stay patient.  You know how it works, there are injuries, call-ups.  They do a good job of working guys in, making sure everyone feels a part of the team.  As soon as I got into the swing of things I felt great right away.  It has been going great.

People talk about how potent the Bears offense has been this season, but the defense hasn’t been too shabby itself, has it?
No.  Back there on “D” we just try to keep it simple.  We have great forwards, we have a lot of talent up front.  So if we could keep the puck out of the net, get the puck up to the forwards quick and make good outlet passes, then they can do their thing up front.

What guys have you been pairing up with this year?
“Deano,” Dean Arsene for a while, then (Greg) Amadio for a while, and right now I’m with (Sasha) Pokulok.  We mix and match out there, with the penalty kill and five on five.

Several of your teammates have already made their way up to the Capitals this season.  What’s it going to take for you to get up there?
I don’t know, just consistent play.  (Chuckling) Maybe a few more injuries.  You never know.

What did you enjoy about your time in the Lowcountry last season?
Oh, man, they have great fans down there.  I really liked the guys on the team, and the coaching staff.  I had a great experience down there.  It was a really good time.
