Checking In With Grant McNeill

12/04/2008 1:55 AM -

Where does your current injury rank among the ones you’ve suffered in your career?
This is definitely one of the most irritating.  I’ve had a lot of surgeries, unfortunately, in my career.  It takes lots of time to heal.

When are you due to return to the Bears lineup?
Well, they say six to eight weeks.  I’ve got surgery Wednesday, so mid-January.

You were pretty active when you were playing this year.  Who would you say was the toughest guy you’ve gone with this season?
I had a great fight with (Matt) Clackson there.  I’ve had great fights with all of them: Jon Mirasty, Yabo (Jeremy Yablonski).  They’ve all been great toe-to-toe fights.

What exactly happened in that fight with Clackson, when you suffered your injury?
I don’t know if it was a punch, or maybe a hit later on in the game.  I jammed it sometime in the game.

You’ve played both forward and on defense this season with Hershey.  Do you have a preference?
No, I like playing both as long as I’m in the lineup.  “D” is my natural but forward is pretty fun to run around and just take the body.  It’s a simple mind change.

Do you miss the pre-game massages at the Coliseum?
(Laughing) I definitely don’t get that up here, that’s for sure.  I do miss that.  I could use one right about now.

Anything you’d like to say to Stingrays fans?
Go Stingrays!  I miss the City of Charleston and the people there.  They’re wonderful people and it’s a beautiful city.  My family definitely misses it, but we’re doing well up here and we’re loving our team up here.  Hopefully all three of us (Washington, Hershey and South Carolina) can pull out a championship.

Don’t miss all the fast-paced, hard-hitting action! Individual tickets can be purchased at the North Charleston Coliseum box office, by calling Ticketmaster at (843) 554-6060 and online at
