The Calgary, AB native began his rookie campaign with the Knoxville Ice Bears of the SPHL appearing in 15 games earning six points (2g, 4a). Prior to turning pro, the 6-foot-1, 205 pound defenseman skated for two seasons at Merrimack College where he was a three-time Hockey East Top Scholar Athlete and acquired two goals and 14 assists for 16 points in 58 games.
