Biography:
Sauer appeared in 10 games with the Greenville Road Warriors, Gwinnett Gladiators and Florida Everblades of the ECHL this season going 2-7-0 with a 2.60 goals-against average and a .896 save percentage. The Rochester, New York, native skated in 23 games last season with the Gladiators and Las Vegas Wranglers taking a 6-11-3 record with a 2.83 GAA and .893 save percentage. A seventh-round (201st overall) draft selection by the Colorado Avalanche in the 2006 NHL Entry Draft, Sauer saw action in the AHL with the Lake Erie Monsters in 2009-10 going 5-7-1 with a 3.09 GAA and .901 save percentage in 15 games. Prior to turning pro, the 6-foot-2, 180-pound goaltender attended the University of Michigan for four seasons compiling a 71-30-8 record, 2.56 goals-against average, .908 save percentage and helped lead the Wolverines to the NCAA Frozen Four in 2007-08.
