The South Carolina Stingrays continue their four-game homestand this week with three contests at the North Charleston Coliseum. First, the Rays welcome Atlanta for a Tuesday night matchup before taking on Florida and Wheeling on Friday and Saturday respectively. South Carolina has 12 points to their name in the South Division standings so far this season with a record of 6-6-0-0, which has them tied for fourth place.

Through 12 games, the Stingrays are averaging the third-most shots on goal per game in the league, posting 34.58 per contest. SC’s power play has converted on 25% of their chances at home, and the team is 5-0-0 when leading after two periods.

Forward Tad Kozun scored his first goal of the year for South Carolina on the power play in the second period, while goaltender Adam Morrison made 26 saves in net for the Rays despite suffering a loss.

Brady Shaw scored three times for the Orlando Solar Bears, who defeated the South Carolina Stingrays 5-3 on Saturday night at the North Charleston Coliseum. Matt Pohlkamp, Grant Besse and Nick Roberto each had goals for the Stingrays in the loss, while goaltender Adam Morrison made timely saves in a losing effort, finishing with 30 stops.

He has eight points (3g, 5a) in his first 12 games with the club this season, fourth-best on the team. The native of Plymouth, Minn. is coming off a big season in Norfolk, where he finished the 2017-18 year with 30 points in 44 contests on 14 goals and 16 assists. Horn got on the scoresheet Thursday in Jacksonville with the primary assist on Tad Kozun’s power play goal and then recorded another primary helper on Matt Pohlkamp’s strike in the first period Saturday night.

FIRST LINE FLOURISHINGThe Rays' top line of Grant Besse, Andrew Cherniwchan and Jonathan Charbonneau are all producing offense at an extremely high rate, each averaging at least a point per game through 12 contests. Besse has picked up nine goals while Cherniwchan has earned six and Charbonneau has totaled three. All three forwards have exactly nine assists as a trio, playing on a line together for most of the season.

POWER PLAY GETS BACK ON TRACKForward Tad Kozun’s power play goal on Thursday morning in Jacksonville gave the Stingrays their seventh man-advantage goal of the season in their 11th game. The strike broke the team out of a slump on the power play, having been held off the scoresheet during their previous six outings. Then forward Nick Roberto followed up on Saturday and added the team’s eighth man-advantage marker in the third period and his first goal of the season.Single-game tickets for all games during the 2018-19 season are on sale now at the North Charleston Coliseum Box Office and ticketmaster.com.
