The South Carolina Stingrays proudly raised $4,000 for the MUSC Hollings Cancer Center in Charleston through the team's Rays Cancer Awareness Weekend. The Stingrays wore special purple and white jerseys during their games on November 1, 2, and 3, auctioning off the game-worn uniforms to support the cause.
On March 11, Stingrays defensemen Jordan Klimek and Troy Murray attended the check presentation at MUSC Hollings Cancer Center, representing the team and their commitment to making a difference in the community.
Reflecting on the event, Klimek emphasized the importance of the fundraiser. “We have great fan support, and raising money through auctioning off these jerseys was very important to us," Klimek said. "Troy and I were happy to attend the check presentation and support in any way we can. This was important for our team and the organization, and a lot of people have been affected by this cause.”
Kelly Rosenblatt, Development Coordinator at Hollings Cancer Center, highlighted the impact of the Stingrays' contribution. “We’ve had a longstanding partnership with the Stingrays, and these critical funds go to the highest level of need here," Rosenblatt said. "It’s really important that we receive donations from local community members and big players like the Stingrays. They help us fund patient care and research, and that's what makes us successful as a cancer center.”
The Stingrays are proud to continue their partnership with MUSC and remain dedicated to supporting those affected by cancer in the Charleston community. Thank you to all the fans who contributed to this meaningful cause.
