Mascot Performer

The South Carolina Stingrays of the ECHL are seeking an outgoing, energetic individual to engage with fans as Cool Ray at community appearances and games in the greater Charleston area. This position provides a unique opportunity to interact with fans and learn about the operations of a professional sports team by working events both inside and outside of the arena.

This is a part-time position. Pay is scheduled bi-weekly: flat rate per event/game.

Responsibilities:

• Work on a part-time basis as Cool Ray, the team mascot of the South Carolina Stingrays
• Maintain animated personality with good interpersonal communication skills and creativity
• Ability to be trained, coached, and critiqued as Cool Ray
• Execute mascot appearances in the community. This may include, but is not limited to: sponsor, charities, media, and private functions
• Participate in skits for social media
• Work directly with the community relations, game operations, and corporate departments
• Create memorable experiences for all fans by engaging them
• Serve as brand ambassador for the South Carolina Stingrays while properly representing the organization and Cool Ray in a professional manner at all times

Candidates must possess the following attributes:

• ICE SKATING SKILLS STRONGLY PREFERRED
• Prior mascot experience strongly preferred
• Be available and willing to work daytime events, evenings events and weekend events
• Be available and willing to work irregular and flexible hours
• Be athletic and physically fit
• Must be able to work in a costume
• Must be able to work in a hot environment for extended periods of time
• Must be able to communicate non-verbally and create interaction
• Must have a great sense of humor and enjoy interacting with others
• Must be well organized, punctual, dependable, have a positive attitude and be friendly
• Must be local to the greater Charleston, SC area to carry out appearance requests
• Must have reliable transportation
• Works well with children and staff members at events

Mascot duties include but are not limited to:

• Perform as Cool Ray at community events and games as needed
• Entertain fans during events and games with constant interaction
• Attend all internal meetings as required
• Take on other duties associated with Cool Ray as the team may reasonably request
• *Skate on the ice during pre-game strongly preferred*
