The South Carolina Stingrays will open their 26th season of hockey in the Lowcountry on October 20 with a day of special events, highlighted by a visit from the greatest trophy in sports, the Stanley Cup®.
Stingrays Opening Night: Capitals Championship Celebration presented by STASH Storage, will begin with a special opportunity for all full and 24-game Season Ticket Holders to get a picture taken with the Stanley Cup® inside the Charleston Area Convention Center. While the team cannot guarantee photos to anyone, they will offer season plan holders the opportunity to take a photo early, from 2-4 p.m. All full and 24-game Season Ticket Holders must show a valid Oct. 20 season ticket to enter during the designated time slot.
In addition, North Charleston Coliseum doors will open at 5:30 p.m. to allow additional time for fans to get a photo with the trophy, which will be stationed behind section 134. All fans must have a ticket to that evening’s Oct. 20 South Carolina vs. Greenville game in order to take a picture with the Stanley Cup®.
At 3 p.m., the Rays will begin a four-hour Fan Fest celebration outside the arena’s south entrance. The Fan Fest will include live music from DJ R Dot and other special events. The North Charleston Coliseum will also have beer available for purchase.
As Stingrays players arrive for the contest around 4:30 p.m., they will be ushered into the building with a Red Carpet Arrival. Players will be introduced, and fans will have the opportunity to get autographs and pictures with their favorite Stingrays as they walk the red carpet.
PURCHASE STINGRAYS OPENING NIGHT TICKETS
In order to accommodate as many fans as possible for this high-demand event, the additional guidelines below have been established. Photographer, Tag Your Pix, will be onsite offering a complimentary digital photo with the Stanley Cup®, available for online download. The only photos permitted with the Stanley Cup® are those provided by the professional photographer. No photos from individual cameras or cell phones will be allowed.
One photo per person, group or individual. In order to accommodate as many guests as possible, if in line with a group, a group photo will be required. For example, a family of four in line will be required to take one group photo together. Individual pictures with the Stanley Cup® for each member of a group will not be permitted due to time concerns.
Due to popular demand, a photo with the Stanley Cup® is not guaranteed. Stingrays’ staff will do their best to accommodate as many guests as possible. To assist with this process, fans are encouraged to arrive early and follow all direction of staff members on site. Once a cutoff time is designated late in the game, no further guests will be allowed in line.
The first 5,000 fans through the doors for the team’s first game of the 2018-19 season will receive a magnet schedule courtesy of SC Sports Medicine.
During the game, the Stingrays will pay tribute to their National Hockey League (NHL) affiliate, the Washington Capitals, who won their first championship title in June. The Capitals’ mascot, Slapshot, will be on hand for all the festivities and the Stingrays will also welcome Wes Johnson, the public address announcer for Caps games inside Capital One Arena.
