RAYS’ KATIE SCHULZ DEPARTING FOR NHL OPPORTUNITY WITH WASHINGTON CAPITALS

RAYS’ KATIE SCHULZ DEPARTING FOR NHL OPPORTUNITY WITH WASHINGTON CAPITALS

NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. – The South Carolina Stingrays, proud ECHL affiliate of the NHL's Washington Capitals and AHL's Hershey Bears, announced today that Director of Marketing and Creative Services, Katie Schulz, has accepted a new position as Integrated Marketing Manager for the Washington Capitals.

Schulza valuable member of the Stingrays front office since July 2021has left an indelible mark during her three-season tenure in the Lowcountry. Schulz coordinated and published engaging social media content on the Stingrays' Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and YouTube accounts, spearheaded all South Carolina Stingrays marketing campaigns, and oversaw all aspects of the Stingrays app and website, StingraysHockey.com.

Additionally, Schulz managed the negotiation, creative development, and trafficking of all Stingray paid media advertising with outside agencies and partners. 

In her new role in Washington, Schulz will be responsible for managing paid and owned advertising inventory and will work to implement an advertising plan to reach ticketing revenue objectives. She will also support the Capitals Director of Marketing in identifying, developing, and implementing theme night opportunities.

I am so excited about this amazing opportunity to work for a first-class organization like the Capitals, and I know my time with the Stingrays has prepared me. The Lowcountry is such a special place, and I will always call it home."

Before joining the Stingrays, Schulz worked in the marketing department for two minor league baseball teams, the Stockton Ports and Hudson Valley Renegades. She obtained her Masters in Sports Communications and Media (concentration in Marketing) at Sacred Heart University. She attended SUNY Oswego for undergrad and played on their women's soccer team, serving as captain for her final two seasons.

The Stingrays are already conducting a thorough search for a new Director of Marketing and Creative Services to join the Stingrays front office for the 2024-25 season.
