The Stingrays are off to their first 4-0-0-0 start since the 2017-18 season. A win on Friday night would give them their first 5-0-0-0 start in 24 years, when the team won its first six games in 2002-03. South Carolina is playing in its second home game of the season following road contests in Savannah and Orlando over the weekend. The Stingrays have netted 19 goals in their first four games this season, the second-most in the Eastern Conference behind Trois-Rivières.

The Stingrays are coming off a 5-3 win over the Orlando Solar Bears on Saturday Night at the Kia Center. The team’s first four goals were power-play goals, with Tyler Weiss scoring the first two, as South Carolina converted on four of its six power-play opportunities.

These two South Division teams squared off last Friday at Enmarket Arena, with the Stingrays cruising to a 5-0 win. Ben Kraws stopped all 27 shots on net for his first shutout of the season, while Ryan Sandelin recorded his first professional hat trick in the win.

The Ghost Pirates are hitting the road for the first time this season, going 2-2-0-0 in their opening four games at Enmarket Arena. Following its loss to the Stingrays last Friday, Savannah bounced back with a 2-0 win over the Jacksonville Icemen on Saturday night. Goaltender Christian Cicigoi earned an 18-save shutout in his first start of the year, while Kasper Lundell assisted on both Savannah goals.

South Carolina’s special teams have been a standout in the team’s early season success. The power play is 7-for-14 (50%), while the penalty kill is a perfect 11-for-11. The Stingrays have scored a power-play goal in each of their first four games, also notching a short handed goal last Friday against Savannah.

The Ghost Pirates attack has been off to a slower start, being held scoreless in two of their four games with six total goals to start the season, with the power play starting just 1-for-14 (7%).
