The South Carolina Stingrays, proud ECHL affiliate of the Washington Capitals and AHL affiliate of the Hershey Bears, have announced the signing of defenseman Cameron Bakker.Bakker, who joined the team on a tryout during training camp and made the opening night roster, had suited up for two games with the Roanoke Rail Yard Dawgs in the Southern Professional Hockey League (SPHL) and picked up three assists and a +5 rating.The Kenmore, Ont. native, split time between the Rail Yard Dawgs and the Cornwall Nationals (FHL) during his first professional season in 2017-18. The blueliner suited up for 26 games with Roanoke and posted 13 points on a goal and 12 assists. Before turning pro, Bakker played at Liberty University for four seasons and totaled 85 points (28g, 57a) in 139 games.In a corresponding move, South Carolina has released defenseman Joe Masonius. He appeared in one game for SC, earning an assist.South Carolina is home to host the Gladiators at the North Charleston Coliseum on Tuesday night at 7:05 p.m. The Stingrays will also host Marvel Super Hero Night on Saturday against the Wheeling Nailers at 7:05.
